Friday 06/05/09

Today was not the greatest food wise, but it was not the worst. I worked all day and had lunch with buddies. The worst thing that I did today was skip swimming. I was tired and it was late in the afternoon. Tonight I have been working on my workout schedule and food plan for next week.

  2. Your food day wasn't THAT bad. I think your planning next week's schedule and menu is a great thing. Keep working it Stephen. :)

  3. I think your eating schedule is something that is really helping your metabolism. You're keeping the "wood burning stove" hot with something every three hours. I applaud your efforts and I look forward to your continued success!

Take care of you and God Bless,

  4. I'm still seeing lots of junk food and so little water:( It's not as much about how much you eat of it, as what you eat. Egg whites, veggies, fruit... you could eat forever. When you begin adding in processed food, the calories jump in and the chemicals work in interestings ways in our bodies. The only unprocessed item I see on your list is water Stephen, and not much of it. What can you do to up your water intake to help your body rehydrate so that you can really lose the weight?

  5. Waffles and cream cheese will go. As will rice, beans, and salty, fatty, wings.. Follow our advice. Your water consumption is adequate. Lets' deal with science not mythology. Eating frequently DOES NOT speed up your metabolism. Water doesn't make you lose weight.. We, as a whole are a very hydrated country..Eat less, move more.. It's about the physics--Tom

  6. The wood burning stove analogy, about eating at least every three hours to keep the metabolism constantly burning, was told to me by a fitness and life coach trained by the Cooper Institute of Health in Texas and by a medical doctor.
Sometimes the problem with listening to so many different experts is, they start to conflict! Then what? I've dealt with this problem a bunch.
I'm not an expert, not even close, never claimed to be. But I've made some real breakthroughs in weight loss that have made it so much easier.
I keep it very simple. I exercise everyday, I eat less (1500 calories)but still at least every three hours, and I drink about 80 to 100 ounces of water a day.
I eat whatever I want. I decide if the food is a good calorie value or a bad calorie value. My choices have naturally improved to more fruits and veggies and good lean meats. But I still enjoy occasional fast food or a nice restaurant. It's all about choices. If you end up eating foods that you wouldn't normally eat, just to lose weight, then what do you do when you reach your goal? Are you still going to eat things you may not like? Are you never going to eat a waffle again?

I've lost 173 pounds eating cream cheese and anything else I would normally eat. I just don't eat an entire block of cream cheese like I would before. I don't make any special grocery trips. For me, it's not about the food, it's about how much!

Besides, I've discovered that losing weight is about 20% food and exercise and 80% mental exercises.

Keep it simple. It doesn't have to be complicated and you don't have to deprive yourself of the things you like to eat.

The experts that I read giving you food advice will think I'm crazy but...
I would invite anyone to study what I've done and how I've done it and then try to argue with my success. 173 pounds in 265 Days.
