Wednesday 06/03/09

Today was good. Again I feel good. My metabolism is cranking up, which means more energy. Taking the thyroid pills at night is really helping.

I switched up my swimming a little today. Normally I just swim freestyle, but after watching a swimming video from Tom & Robin from Florida, I chose to swim the first half of my laps using the freestyle technique, and the second half of the laps using another technique. Tomorrow, I am going to start a new page in the blog for "My Workouts", and I'll post pics and videos of what I do for my workouts. These are not pics and video of me, these are items that I find on youtube and Google. Also, the videos from Tom & Robin will be in there. This information will be really good for people like me, people in the 400+ club. Of course anyone can do these exercises, but these exercises and workouts can be done by any sized person. It's tough finding exercise information on google for plus sized folks. Hell, a lot of gym equipment is not for big people.

Also, I will have exercises that can be done at home with minimal stuff ie. exercise bands, dumbells, and walking because I know that a lot of people like me don't want to go to the gym, or they need something quick and cheap so they can get started.

There's no excuse for not exercising. I've met people that have lost a lot of weight, and they started exercising in their house. They would just walk up and down a hallway. Hell, walking is walking, no matter where it's done.

Thank You.

  2. Love the "walking is walking" comment, very true! You're so right about there not being a good excuse to not exercise. When I started at 505, even a quarter mile was almost too much. But I kept on doing it day after day...and now 262 days later, it's easy to go out and walk a 10K. Love your attitude. Keep up the fantastic work!

  4. Do you carry a water bottle with you everywhere you go? How much water are you drinking with your meal?

  5. I try to remember to carry a water bottle with me everywhere. I have 2 half gallon jugs (one for home and one for work)

Right now I'm not drinking anything with my meals. I need to start doing that. I also need to drink a glass of water before a meal because that helps to fill full quicker.

Also, I learned it's good to drink water throughout workouts.

  6. Hey stephen, I've been following your blog for the last weeks or so. I am a big man at 259.5 lbs, but I was 278 about 2 months ago. My two suggestions for you are: more veggies! You eat a fair share of them but you can always have more. My wife got a small countertop steamer so we have a chicken breast for dinner and then have say asparagus and cauliflower with it. I find that I don't feel the need for an evening snack, even though I 'm usually up past midnight.

Second thing is, if you have the means, get a wii and the new ea active game. It's a virtual trainer in a box! It incorporates resistance band, aerobic, cardio and it's pretty fun. It's perfect for me when I don't have time to go out to work out, or the weather is bad.

Good luck on your continued progress!

  7. Glad to see things are improving for you. That is a great idea to try different strokes in the pool - challenging your body to do something different will help burn those calories - plus it is fun to try something new anyway! It is good to keep things interesting.

    Keep up the good work!

  8. Good work and a GREAT attitude will take you all the way!

I am really happy that you are doing so well.

The veggies comment from Matt is so true. Steamed veggies are great and so nutritious! Top with a little oilve oil and lemon, put that with a nice protein and some fresh sliced tomatoes and you're good to go!
