Weigh-In, First Bowflex Workout and I'm Sick

Weekly weigh-in: 516 lbs.
Loss: -4 lb.
Total loss: 116 lbs.
Emotion: okay

I had a decent weigh in. I didn't exercise a lot last week because of back pain.

Here's a pic from my first Bowflex workout:

Yes, our (Andy and I) first workout was carrying the unit up a flight of stairs. ha!
Thank you again Chris and Gary for the Bowflex. We will wear it out! And, I will come see you when I have reached the  200 lb. loss milestone Also, I am gonna get you a souvenir from the Talladega race. Hopefully I can get something autographed for you.
Finally, I just got in from the doc's office. I have had a sore throat for 5-6 days now. I was hoping it would go away on its own, but it started getting worse.
I have strep throat and have been put on strong antibiotics for 10 days. Then, I have to go back for more blood work. I'm thankful that I only have a sore throat and that I don't have a chest cold or sinus crud.
I will still walk every day, but I will postpone working out. Andy said I shouldn't workout while taking antibiotics. I might call the doc just to confirm because I want to workout dang it.

I hope you have a great week. I know I will. :)

  2. Great job this week!

I admire you for giving up your gym membership; I am at a point now where I could stand to save some money by doing that, but I am afraid I won't be motivated enough to work out at home by myself!

    Hope you feel better!

  4. P.S. I'd not heard of a Bowflex before you mentioned it last week, looks like a medieval torture device!! ;-)

  5. Way to Go on the 4 pounds!!! I too am generally just "okay" if my weight loss is 5 pounds or less, but I know that that is just me wanting the big double digits, and being impatient probably too. It's kind of silly when I realize that 4 pounds a week for a solid year is a huge 200 pounds, and that would be amazing. Anyway, I know how you feel, but when we have weeks like this, it truly is still a great accomplishment, so well done sir.

Very cool about the bowflex, I've never used one, but they certainly look like a good workout, so tear it up!

...well, after the strep passes. I too am having pretty brutal sore throat and general cold right now, no fun :(

    Take care brother!

  6. Carrying the Bowflex up stairs is a fantastic workout! Simple and effective. How imaginative you are, Stephen.

Good job on the WI. Don't amp up the eating while you've got the brakes on the working out. That's what I tend to do and it's a recipe for Instant Fail.

  9. Congrats on your loss!

We have a Bowflex, and I can't imagine carrying that thing up a flight of stairs like that! That was a workout!

    Hope you're feeling better soon!

  10. Good job on the loss! And yeah, it looks like that was a fine workout in itself. Just gotta be careful not to pull anything with moving stuff.

  11. That looks like a great workout! :-) I probably wouldn't plan on doing that one every day though.

BTW, I think calling the doc about working out is a good idea.

  13. Great Loss! Good Work! Keep it up! You're success is a great motivator for me as I start my trek. I'm seeing what can happen in over a years time, 09/09/09-10/10/10. The years is going to pass so why not make changes. Thanks for your postings.

  14. I own a bowflex, but I can't say it's too worn out though. I have moved that damn thing about 4 times in the last 8 years. Awkward and heavy. Good job on your loss.
